DAUGHTERS OF THE HEART OF MARY (DHM).

NAME:

Daughters of the Heart of Mary (DHM). It is a religious society of Pontifical right, founded in France in 1791 during the French Revolution.

FOUNDERS:

Pierre Joseph de Clorivière, a Jesuit priest, and Marie Adélaïde de Cicé, a lady of French nobility.

PURPOSE:

Constantly striving for the glory of God in service to humanity by working for the Kingdom in communion with the Church.

OUR MISSION

The charism of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary invites us to be a sign and presence of the love of God through prayer and apostolic action, wherever the need is greatest.

Accordingly a wide variety of works in the fields of Health and Education are carried out to empower people in both urban and rural areas. In India attention is paid to women and children in distress.

The Daughters of the Heart of Mary are called to “Form one heart and one soul”, by a deeper union with Christ, an authentic fraternal and generous commitment to serve those most in need with the vigor and energy of the emerging church.

FIRST PONTIFICAL APPROVAL:

On January 19, 1801, the Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary received verbal approval from Pope Pius VII. (Const. p.87. Approvals of the Church).

On April 24, 1857, Pope Pius IX approved and confirmed definitively, by decree, the Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary.

CHARACTERISTICS

Since its inception, our Society has had no or any external distinctive sign, thus allowing us to live embedded in all environments, being a cordial presence, like Mary, in the midst of the world, united by prayer and fellowship.

The Spirituality of the Society

Both the Founders had a great love for the Holy Eucharist. The Lord called them home while they were in His presence.

The Daughters of the Heart of Mary wish to manifest a special love for the Virgin Mary who faithfully kept in her heart the mystery of Jesus

Carme Vergara has been reelected as Superior General of the DHM Society for the period 2017- 2013.

Patsy Khan from North India was elected as first General Assistant of the DHM Society from 2017-2013

Carla Maria Cazeiro of Portugal was elected as Second Assistant General of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary Society from 2017-2013.

Opportune Konfe of West Africa was elected as third General Assistant of the Heart of Mary Society from 2017-2013.

Marie Frings of Belgium was elected as the fourth General Assistant of the Heart of Mary Society from 2017-2013.
